Breakfast with Santa
On Saturday December 11th make your way to the Slusser Senior Center to visit with Santa and enjoy a wonderful breakfast. The Hopkinton Recreation Committee along with other volunteers will cook up a hot breakfast to include eggs, pancakes, bacon, toast, muffins, hash browns and more while the kids can have a special visit with Santa and partake in craft activities. The event will be held from 8am – 11am and the cost is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children. All proceeds will go towards Operation Christmas organized by the Human Services Department. We are also accepting additional gift card donations for the Operation Christmas program. All are welcome!!!
Holiday Lights Contest
It is time to start thinking how you are going to decorate your home for the holidays. You may be the lucky winner of the 4th annual Holiday Lights Contest. Whether you have a peaceful yard exhibited, or a massive light spectacle, be sure to enter your home. The top three winners will be chosen by the Recreation Committee on the evening of December 15th. Show some community holiday spirit and out-decorate your neighbor! Homes must be entered by December 14th by 5pm. For Hopkinton/Contoocook Residents only. Call 746-2915 to enter your home!
Santa Calling Program
The Hopkinton Recreation Department is happy to announce that for the third year in a row, we have made special arrangements for Santa Claus to call the children of Hopkinton/Contoocook. Parents can pick up “Santa Calling” forms at the Slusser Senior Center, Town Hall, and the Library or download them off the web at www.hopkinton-nh.gov (click recreation). Santa will be calling children ages 3-8 on the evening of December 14th and all forms need to be submitted by December 13th. This event is free and brought to you by the Hopkinton Recreation Department and the Recreation Committee. Call 746-2915 for more information.
So You Think You Can Dance? – Hip Hop Dance Class
You heard it right! Hopkinton Recreation is excited to present a Hip-Hop dance class for all ages. Our instructor Phyllis Drennan, a professional dance instructor as well as choreographer, will show you the basic movements of hip hop dance and street dance like you have seen on such shows like “So you think you can dance”. Phyllis’ credits include Hello Broadway, 42nd Street, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the 1996 Super Bowl. The class will be a 10-week program, held on Mondays, starting on January 10th and ending on March 21st (no class Feb 28th). The class will be held at the Senior Center and will cost $75 per student. The class for ages 7-12 is 6pm-7pm, for ages 13-16 is 7-8pm, for ages 17 and up is 8-9pm. Call 746-2915 to register today!!

Due to the lack of snow and lack of snow expected, the Recreation Committee has decided to cancel this year’s Funnelator Event and reschedule it for February 2013. Please help us pass the word.

• Sculpt, paint, and pencil – Children’s Art Program
Presented by Kimball Jenkins Art School, this program will run for 8 weeks, March 12th through May 7th (No class on April 23rd), meeting once a week (Mondays) from 4:30-6pm at the Slusser Senior Center. Children ages 8-11 are invited to join us as we explore the arts of sculpting, painting, and drawing. Cost is $55.00, pre-payment required, 15 students per class. • Easter Egg Hunt
The annual tradition continues as the Parks & Recreation Department proudly presents this year’s Easter Egg Hunt. Join us Saturday, March 31st at 11am at the Hopkinton High School for fun activities and a chance to meet the Easter Bunny himself! The Easter Egg hunt will begin promptly at noon. Don’t forget your Easter baskets and cameras!
• First Kicks (Age 2-5) Soccer Camp
That’s right! A NEW program just for our up-and-coming soccer pro’s! Instructed by the best at Challenger Sports, this program will give children their first look at the social and physical skills the game of soccer can provide. This is a fun, energetic program that children ages 2-5 are invited to register for. Registrations are done on-line at challengersports.com. This is a 6-week camp that runs once a week, on Thursdays, May 3 – June 7th. Age 2-3 can attend 10am-10:45 or 1pm-1:45 / Age 4-5 can attend 11am-11:45 or 2pm-2:45. Save the date! The Red Sox Trip will be on August 1st 2012 and the Red Sox will take on the Detroit Tigers! Bussing and game ticket are included in the price. $65per ticket. The bus will depart the Slusser Senior Center at 4pm, with a 7:10 game-time. Trip tickets are now on sale at the Recreation Dept. (Slusser Senior Center) Pre-payment is required to hold seats. First come first serve.
