DEALING WITH
GRIEF AND STRESS
Below are several web sites with excellent information on helping children
cope with grief and stress, and helping adults talk with kids. Much of this
information was borne out of 9-11.
COPING
1. Connect for Kids, a Web site operated by the Benton Foundation,
has gathered an excellent collection of Web sites on coping with death
and grief. It includes links to the American Counseling Association's fact
sheet on helping children cope with trauma and a piece on talking with
children about terrorism. It can be reached through:

TALKING WITH KIDS
2. Those of us who have relationships with children and youth
are struggling with what to say and when. A helpful Web site is Talking with
Kids about Tough Issues, which has a whole section dealing with news events
that is quite relevant today. It can be accessed at:

3. The American Academy of Pediatrics has summarized advice
for working with children . You'll find it at:
http://www.aap.org
4. The Parent Center has specific guidance for parents
in light of children's fears. It's available at:
