Funding
Requests
1. Kim Emerson
submitted a request for $1,000 for the artist-in-residence program. The
program this year will feature a potter who will work with students at both
Harold Martin and Maple Street schools. A motion to approve was made by Sally
Turcotte; seconded by Laura McGlashan. Approved.
2.
Fourth-grade teacher Trish Roberts submitted a request for $600 to purchase
books and a cart for a program to support literacy in reluctant readers. The
books would be specifically targeted toward boys in grades four through six,
but would eventually become part of the general Maple Street library
collection. Kathy Donohoe mentioned that the request included $300 for books
and $300 for the cart and the suggestion was made by Michael Bessette that the
meeting could vote to consider funding only the books. Bridget Christie made a
motion to fund the full $600; motion was seconded by Karen Mayo.
Approved.
Hawk Shirts
Sale: Julie Morris reported that the sale of Hawks shirts was a
success. This sale was not a fundraiser but a service provided to allow
elementary school families to purchase Hawk gear. The PTA split profits with
the Booster Club.
