Hopkinton PTA
Minutes for January 5, 2006
Present: Julie Morris, Kathy Donohoe, Joyce
Rose, Michelle Benson, Kelli Cyr,
Bill Carozza, Peter Gauthier, Trish Underwood,
Sally Turcotte, Eileen Reinacher,
Will Renauld, Chris Kelly, Cindy Dobe, Vickie
Baronas, Mike Bessette, Marcia
Clark, and Lynnette Carney.
Motion made by Sally Turcotte to pass November
3, 2005 minutes. Seconded by
Kathy Donohoe. Passed.
Budget:
At this point we have spent much of our budgeted
expenses and it was suggested
by the PTA Treasurer, Joyce Rose, that we be
cautious with our spending for the
remainder of the year.
Funding Requests:
Money given to the 8th grade for cancelled
October field trip will be used in
the Spring to see Romeo and Juliet
Request from Will Renauld for $500.00 to help
support a new First Robotics Team.
This is a combined team of Hopkinton High School
and John Stark High School
Students.
Approximately 15 out of 30 students are from Hopkinton High School.
Motion made by Trish Underwood to give $200.00
and to extend the PTA movie
license to the team for their fundraising
efforts. Seconded by Vickie
Baronas.
Passed.
Request from Lori Aubertin's 3rd grade class for
$170.00 to help purchase
playground equipment for Harold Martin
School. The class budgeted money
and
chose the supplies and equipment as a class
project. Motion made by Peter
Gauthier for $170.00. Seconded by Marcia Clark.
Request from Terry Grady for money to help pay
for transportation to St. PaulŐs
School to see a performance of the Wizard of
Oz. Denied. The PTA does not fund
bus transportation, only field trips.
Request from Mary Chris Duncan for $1,100.00 for
two performances of the TIGER
program to be presented to K-6 classes at HMS
and MSS. Motion made by Mike
Bessette for $1,100.00. Seconded by Trish Underwood. Passed.
Request from the 8th grade team for money to pay
for a field trip to the NH
Historical Society. Denied due to budgeted money being been spent already for
this grade.
Update on PTA Activities:
We will be putting PTA bulletin boards at all
the schools to post PTA
activities, events and news. Julie Morris has visited the three
schools and
with the principals found a location for each
board.
The PTA received an award for increase in
membership from the National PTA for
the 2004/2005 school year.
The PTA was presented with a proclamation
recognizing the Hopkinton PTA from the
Governor's office at the Executive Council
Meeting held at Hopkinton High School
in November.
Fun Fair 2006:
Fun Fair 2006 will be held on May 20th from
10:00-2:00. Vickie Baronas and
Julie Morris will chair this event.
New Officers:
We are looking for two volunteers to serve 1-2
year terms as Vice President and
Secretary beginning in June. Anyone interested can contact Julie
