Minutes for the meeting of
March 8, 2007

April 5, 2007 meeting)

Motion made by Eileen
Reinacher to approve Feb. 2007 minutes; seconded by Julie Morris. Approved.
Funding Requests
1.A request was submitted
by second grade teachers Becky Perkins and Deb Jones for $90 to pay for
transportation to Elm Brook Park to make bluebird houses. Unfortunately, the
PTA does not pay transportation costs for field trips. Kathy Donohoe will speak
to Deb Jones to see if the money could be applied to supplies for the bird house;
otherwise, the request will be denied.
2. The sixth grade teachers
submitted a request for $275 to pay admission to the MFA in Boston. Motion to
approve made by Nancy Skarmeas; seconded by Sally Turcotte. Approved.
3. Marcia Clark requested
money to buy two cases of water for the upcoming authorŐs luncheon. Motion to
approve made by Julie Morris; seconded by Eileen Reinacher. Approved.
4. Julie Morris submitted a
request for $200 to buy lunch for the staff at Saturday school at HMS on March
10. Eileen Reinacher will look into including the staff at HHS as well.
Motion to approve made by Kathy Donohoe; seconded by Nancy Skarmeas. Approved.
5. Third grade teacher Lori
Aubertin submitted a request for $250 for a cow heart dissection program.
Motion to approve made by Kathy Donohoe; seconded by Julie Morris. Approved.
Recent Events
1. The planetarium night
was a success, with about 100 attendees. The decision was made to organize this
event every other year.
2. The PTA sponsored school
board candidate forum was well-attended. Thanks go to Roger Turcotte for
volunteering to moderate this event.
Upcoming Events
1. A movie night is
scheduled for Friday, March 9, at 6:30 at MSS.
2. A trip to the Fisher
Cats game on Friday, May 18th, is planned. The volunteer coordinators
will try to find someone to organize this event.
At the close of the
meeting, Cindy Dobe provided a presentation on internet safety.
