Minutes for
the meeting of May 1, 2008

approval at the June 5, 2008 meeting)
Present: Kathy

Eileen Reinacher, Kelly Heitz
Motion made by
Kathy Donohoe to approve April 2008 minutes; seconded by Laura McGlashan.
Approved.
Budget
Laura
McGlashan reported a cash balance of about $5,000. Profits of around $4,000 are
expected at Fun Fair, which is set for May 17.
Funding Requests
1. Deirdre
Smith submitted a request for $450 to buy Great Stone Face books for MSS.
Motion to approve made by Nancy Skarmeas; seconded by Laura McGlashan.
Approved.
2. A request
for $50 to buy food and decorations for the forensics tournament at HHS was
submited by Julie Morris. Motion to approve made by Eileen Reinacher; seconded
by Kelly Heitz. Approved.
3. Three HMS
field trip requests were considered with one vote. The first grade teachers
submitted a request for $500 for their Odiorne Point trip. This is the first
year that Odiorne is charging admission. The second grade team asked for $650
for their trip to the Montshire Museum and the third grade requested $500 for
their trip to Squam Lake. Kathy Donohoe suggested that the meeting vote to give
$400 to each grade. Moved by Eileen Reinacher; seconded by Laura McGlashan.
Approved.
4. The third
grade at HMS requested $400 to restore the gardens outside the school entrance.
The garden work would be done by the third grade classes. Motion to approve made
by Eileen Reinacher; seconded by Nancy Skarmeas. Approved.
5. The meeting
discussed, but did not vote on, contributing to defray the cost per student for
Hopkinton Day at Skid School, a driving safety course which costs $250 per
student. There was discussion of the PTA contributing $10 for each Hopkinton
student registered, up to a maximum of thirty students. The day following
the meeting Kathy Donohoe made a motion to approve this amount; Nancy Skarmeas
seconded. A vote was taken by email and the funding was approved.
Upcoming
Events
1. Fun Fair is
scheduled for May 17. Julie Morris is coordinating.
2. The PTA
trip to a Fisher Cats game is scheduled for June 1. Approximately 65 tickets
have been sold.
The meeting
ended with a preview of the upcoming Hopkinton Day at Skid School.
