High and Low Pressure

You may have heard of high and low pressure fronts on the weather channel... But what are they? A high pressure front is when air mollecules get pushed together. When this happens the area gets very dry and hot. A low pressure front is were the air mollecules rise and form rain clouds that.. well rain! In these areas the climate is very humid and muggy. Air molecules from the High pressure point move toward the low pressure so they can heat and rise. Low pressure fronts are formed around the tropics, areas close to the equator. That's why normaly there are rain forests around that area. High pressure fronts normally form around the poles. That's why the arctic and antarctic are so dry.
