Columbus started at the Canary Island because it was the westernmost island of Spain. It had good water supplies, wood and meat before going on the long trip into unknown waters. It was also a place that got good wind to start off on their long trip. And on Gomera one of the Islands, and the governor was a woman that he liked. (Columbus already had a wife)
There are three different groups in the Caribbean Region. The Greater Antilles, the Lesser Antilles and the Bahamas. The Greater Antilles is Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico. The Lesser Antilles has lots of small islands made from volcanoes. One Island is the Lesser Antilles is Montserrat! Montserrat has been filmed in movies before. Monterrat is has one big volcano. The Bahamas is made of smaller islands that look like L, C, U, B’s when your in the sky.
