The Canary Islands have volcanic peaks, and a tropical climate. Christopher Columbus started his voyage at the Canary Islands because it was a good place to collect water supplies, wood and meat for their long journey across the Atlantic Ocean. Francesco Guicciardini a 16th century historian wrote in his "History of Italy" that having experience sailing the ocean sea had certain observations about the wind. They also think because his love was the governor in one of the Canary Islands.
The three island regions in the Caribbean region are The Greater Antilles, the Lesser Antilles and the Bahamas. The Greater Antilles are made up of Cuba, Jamaica, Hispaniola and Puerto Rico. Which are four rather large islands. There is also an island called Anguilla which is an island with very low lands. The Lesser Antilles are made up of a ton of small islands and are just under Puerto Rico, the eastern most island of the lesser antilles is Barbados. There is also a small island in the Lesser Antilles called "Montserrat". And then there are the Bahamas which from above look almost like the letters: C, U, L, O.
