Columbus' Voyage To "Asia"

The Canary Islands are a small batch of islands right off the coast of Africa. Columbus went to the Canaries because the Pinta had a damaged rudder and needed repairs. He spent two weeks there and ordered the Lateen sails on the Nina to be replaced with square sails (he also had a close lady friend on the islands that wasn’t his wife).Also it was a good place to resupply on food and water.

There are three different groups in the Caribbean region Greater Antilles, Lesser Antilles, and The Bahamas. The Greater Antilles are the larger islands that are south to southeast of Florida they are made up of Cuba, Jamaica, Hispanolia which is made up of the countries Haiti and the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. The Lesser Antilles are made up of the smaller islands of the northern coast of South America. The Bahamas are off the southeastern shore of Florida and north of the Greater Antilles.
