                The Canary Islands are many islands just West of Africa. The latitude of The Canary Islands is about 28 degrees north, and the longitude varies from 15 degrees west to 20 degrees west. That’s because they are many islands that a scattered between that range of longitude. Something interesting about the Canary Islands is that they have dogs running around wildly around these many different islands. Why the Canary Islands you may ask. Columbus chose to stop at the Canaries because they are a good place to stock up on water, wood, meat, and vegetables for the long voyage head.
Lesser Antilles: The Lesser Antilles is a big group of little islands. These islands are located just southeast of the Greater Antilles. Then they curve around to South America. Some of these islands in the Lesser Antilles are volcanoes. One island in the Lesser Antilles is Montserrat . Some more islands that are part of the Lesser Antilles are The Cayman Islands .
Greater Antilles: The Greater Antilles is made up of 4 big islands; Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico. These islands are located 90 miles south of Florida. These islands are located just northwest of the Lesser Antilles. The Greater Antilles curve down to meet up with the Lesser Antilles. An island in the Greater Antilles is Cuba.
Bahamas: The Bahamas are located about 50 miles southeast from Florida. The Bahamas are made up of 700 islands that look like little “c’s”, little “o’s,” little “u’s,” and little “l’s”. The Bahamas are a good place to go vacationing because of the nice weather there.
