1. Describe the trip to Odiorne Point.
On Thursday June 19,2008, Hopkinton Middle/High Schools 7th graders are going to ODIORNE POINT! Ordiorne point is a place on the sea coast where people can explore vernal pools and sea life kind of upclose. At Ordiorne Point we are going to be going and reaching into the water to pick up some sealife. we are also going to be going into the water (BUT ONLY UP TO OUR KNEES, MAYBE MIDTHIGH) and exploring some more sea creatures. I am hoping that Odiorne Point is going to be fun.
Some of the things we might find in the vernal pools are:
Barnacles
craps
Fish
Starfish
Lobsters
And a lot, lot more!
2. Name and describe the 4 tidal zones at Odiorne Point. Mention what is found in each zone.
Dry Zone: The dry zone is where you would lay your beach towel or blanket, put up your umbrella, some food on your picnic table ect.
Black Zone: The black zone is also known as the splash zone. It is known as that because every 12 hours-ish the water splashes the area.
White Zone: The white zone is covered with barnacles.
Brown Zone: The brown zone is covered with rockweed and knotted wrack.
Red Zone: The red zone is covered with Irish Moss.
Undersea Zone: The undersea zone is where all the undersea animals live.
