Mount cardigan is in Alexandria, New Hampshire.  The exact location for Mount Cardigan is 43° 40’28.94 N and 71° 52’05.45 W.  While we were in Alexandria New Hampshire for our environmental camp, besides Mount Cardigan, we also went to Welton Falls. The exact location for Welton Falls is 43° 38’50.23 N and 71° 51’04.12 W.  Alexandria New Hampshire is in Grafton County which I found out all on my own.  To get to Alexandria you have to leave Hopkinton and go through Bristol.

Alexandria has mountains and lots of trees.  Which in fact are very beautiful when you get to the top of the mountains.  They have 2 mountains. Their names are Cardigan and Firescrew.  There are really no fields, considering that you hike and climb and there are trees everywhere.  When you get to the top the things you notice is how high it is and the fact that the trees are all so pretty.  They could go on for miles to my viewing.  You might see some bodies of water like we did.  For example we saw Newfound Lake.

As we were up we saw a fire tower which is a tower where a person sits and watches for forest fires.  The land use is amazing.  When you look you could see some pretty amazing sights.  Like the mountains in the background and how they fade with the different colors.  That still gets to me as and I don’t know why it does that.

One thing that is absolutely beautiful to me is to see all the different colors of the trees when you get to the top.  As you get further up the colors form and looks like a painting that you want to draw. The zones that you will go through is the hardwood zone which is the zone with the trees that have the pretty colors that change.  Then you have the zone with not as much trees with beautiful leaves and more pines and things.  That zone is the boreal zone.  That is the middle of the mountain.  When you get to the top you will be changing into the zone of all pines and they seem to be little.  That is the alpine zone.  The reason they are so little is because it is so cold up there with the wind blowing so.
