Interact Students doing well in Honduras

“Just a quick shout-out:  your HHS students are awesome!  The kids are working hard in very hot sun, little shade at site this year, and no complaints whatsoever. In fact, they are challenging themselves to finish a large 3-room school all the way up to the rafters before we leave. They are all curious, speaking Spanish, flexible, adaptable and uncomplaining. We have a 1-hour commute over a dusty, bumpy road each day, but they don’t seem to mind.

Will take photos soon and send along to give you an idea of the worksite. (Won’t send pictures of the beach and palm trees. No need to make anyone jealous!!!!)

Peace.

-Mary”

Thanks to our Small Business Class and Marklin Candles

The Small Business class presented our school with a check in the amount of 639.55 for our student support fund. This money was a result of a partnership with Marklin Candles and the students’ real-world business initiative. The class, led by Kate Backman, worked with Mr. and Mrs. Marklin to design, create, market, and sell candles whereby a portion of the profits went to support students in our community. This was an excellent educational opportunity that fostered a great community connection and real world experiences. It could not have been done without the strong efforts of Mr. and Mrs. Marklin and Ms. Backman.
