COMMENTS FROM THE HOPKINTON SCHOOL BOARD

Ms. Durant read a thank you note to the administration and school board.

Mr. Luneau stated that he recently talked to a community member on the soccer field that is promoting entrepreneurial thinking, business skills, and accountability – teaching it at a grassroots level to his family.  He stated that when you look around our community, there are many people who have achieved entrepreneurial success. He suggested we celebrate some of these success stories with a wall at the middle high school.

ITEMS FOR BOARD DISCUSSION

  1. a. Harold Martin School Carpet

Mr. Chamberlin stated that he is beginning to implement a carpet exchange, starting with some of the classrooms at Harold Martin School. He stated that it is a safety issue, because the carpet is a trip hazard. The rooms that need to be replaced first are 108, 110, and 112. He stated that they sent out a bid and has received several quotes. They will need to have a public hearing to withdraw funds from the maintenance trust.

Ms. Clark stated that four companies submitted quotes. Deans Carpets in Manchester was the lowest price, which included a lifetime warranty.

Mr. Chamberlin that this is time sensitive, as they would like to have the carpets replaced during the summer. The cost to replace the carpet in all the classrooms is $5500.
