PUBLIC HEARING

June 21, 2011

Administration: Superintendent: Steven Chamberlin, Business Administrator: Michelle Clark

CALL TO ORDER

Mr. Luneau called the properly posted public hearing to order at 5:20pm.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None present

COMMENTS FROM THE HOPKINTON SCHOOL BOARD AND ADMINISTRATION

Mr. Luneau stated the purpose of the meeting is the proposed withdrawal of $8218 from the Hopkinton School District School Building Repair and Maintenance Expendable Trust Fund for the purpose of accepting the bid from Eckhardt and Johnson, Inc. to replace the hot water heater at the Maple Street School

Mr. Chamberlin stated per District policy all contracts for purchases in the amount of $7500 or more shall be based on competitive bids. He stated the hot water heater failed and after assessing to repair or replace, it was determined that after the length of time it has been in service, the best value was to replace the hot water heater.

Mr. Luneau asked if this was a sudden failure of the water heater.

Ms. Clark stated that there have been problems with the water heater for the past three months and that it is more than ten years old.

Ms. Durant asked Ms. Clark to confirm that we have not withdrawn any funds from the School Building Repair and Maintenance Expendable Trust Fund during this fiscal year.

Ms. Clark stated that was correct.

Ms. Durant asked that the current balance of the School Building Repair and Maintenance Expendable Trust Fund be documented before and after this withdrawal.

Balance before withdrawal -   $226,178.00

Balance after withdrawal –  $217,960.00
