STAFF REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS

2012-2013 Hopkinton School District Teacher Nomination (Action Item)

Mr. Chamberlin stated that due to circumstances, he amended the nomination slate on Monday, April 9, 2012 and presents a completed slate today – the remainder of the teacher contracts.

Mr. Luneau stated that as discussed at the board meeting on Monday, all teacher contracts must be issued by May 15.

Mr. Chamberlin stated that there is a distinction on the slate for those who are on probationary and on continued contracts.

Mr. Luneau read the following in regards to today’s Board action.

Pursuant to state law, the district is required to offer a renewal of contract to tenured employees. The employee in this case is tenured, so the board will renew, issue a contract for, the position. This decision to renew is without prejudice to the superintendent and the board to take such additional action later as deemed appropriate given the circumstances.  This decision should not be interpreted as a reflection of the Board’s position on whether Mr. Fox should continue to serve as Hopkinton’s guidance counselor.
