Message from Ms. Doyle - Hunter Near MSS

Hello,
I hope this email finds you well.
I want to let you know about something that happened this morning at Maple Street School. A hunter was seen walking near the school grounds, dressed in camouflage and carrying a rifle. Several concerned citizens reached out to the school and the Hopkinton Police Department. Officer O'Connor from the Hopkinton PD responded immediately and looked into the report.
During this time, I asked students and staff to stay in the building to ensure the safety of all. Some students may have missed their Snack Recess time outside, but afternoon recess was held as usual.
I appreciate the citizens that showed care and concern for our students and reached out to share this information. While initially unsettling for some, it is felt that the hunter was simply closer than expected to the school and surrounding residences.  We value our strong relationship with the Hopkinton Police Department and appreciate their swift attention to this matter. Please feel encouraged to reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Amy Doyle
